Congratulations to Dr Ido Sagi for winning the Kaye Innovation Award for 2017 for his stem cell research at the Azrieli Center of Stem Cells and Genetic Research of the Hebrew University. His research, with Prof. Nissim Benvenistry, Director of the Azrieli Center, yielded the first successful isolation and maintenance of haploid embryonic stem cells in humans. Based on this research, Yissum, The Technology Transfer company of the Hebrew University, launched the company New Stem, which is developing a diagnostic kit for predicting resistance to chemotherapy treatments.
