Erez Zohar is a senior lecturer at the Racah Insitute of Physics, at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research mainly focuses on the interfce between quantum many body theories and quantum information and technology, and he is specifically interested in developing tools for dealing with strongly interacting systems and their application to quantum field theories.

In his PhD, supervised by Benni Reznik at Tel Aviv University, in a collaboration with Prof. J. Ignacio Cirac of the Max Planck Insitute of Quantum Optics in Garching, Germany, Erez was one of the pioneers of quantum simulation of lattice gauge theories, which is nowadays a very active, growing research field, spanning across different physical disciplines (quantum information, particle physics, condensed matter physics, atomic and optical physics). Later on, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Prof. Cirac's group, inclunding periods as an Alexander-von-Humboldt fellow and as a Max-Planck-Harvard research center for quantum optics fellow.

Currently, Erez Zohar's group at the Hebrew University works on developing and applying quantum simulation and tensor network methods to a variety of many body models and quantum field theories.
