Avi Braun is a physicist and research fellow at Imperial College London. His dissertation “The Physics of High Carrier Injection Rates in Concentrator Photovoltaics” was written under the supervision of Prof. Jeffrey Gordon and was awarded The Rieger Prize for his doctoral research in renewable energy.

Avi received his MSc from The Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research, department of Solar Energy and Environmental Physics at The Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in 2009. His thesis “Investigations of advanced multi-junction concentrator photovoltaics”. was written under the supervision of Prof.Jeffrey M. Gordon. The research focused on Multi-junction concentrator solar cells incorporate tunnel diodes that undergo a transition from high-conductance tunneling to low-conductance thermal diffusion behavior, typically at threshold current densities of the order of 102–103  mA/mm2.

Avi’s work has been published in a variety of journals including Energy & Environmental Science, Applied Optics and Applied Physics Letters.
