Institution of PhD:
Technion - Israel Institute of Technology
Academic Discipline of PhD:
Physics
PhD Advisor/s:
Prof. Ido Kaminer & Prof. Oren Cohen
Dissertation Topic:
Strong Field Quantum Optics

Born in 1992, Michael grew up in Rehovot and currently resides in Haifa. He earned a dual BSc in physics and electrical engineering cum laude from the Technion as part of the IDF’s Psagot excellence program. While pursuing his BSc, he researched sparse reconstruction in medical signal processing applications in the group of Prof. Yonina Eldar. After completing his BSc, he enlisted in the Israeli Navy, where he worked as an R&D engineer in the field of electronic warfare, later serving as a team leader. He completed his MSc under the joint supervision of Prof. Oren Cohen and Prof. Ido Kaminer from the Technion, where he is currently continuing his research as a PhD student.

Michael’s research focuses on strong-field quantum optics – an unexplored frontier in light-matter interactions in which intense light with quantum properties interacts with matter. He has contributed to this field both in theoretical and experimental work, the latter being his current focus. He is also interested in extremely multimode quantum-optical systems as a platform for generation of resource states for quantum measurements and computations.

Michael’s hobbies include social dancing, surfing, martial arts, learning languages, and reading science fiction.
