Noninvasive Therapy and Diagnostic of Glioblastoma Using Ultrasound and Nanobubbles

Roni, born in 1996, grew up in Rishon Le Zion and now resides in Tel Aviv with her partner, Roi, and their dog. She began her academic journey at Tel Aviv University in 2017, pursuing dual degrees in biomedical engineering and neuroscience at the Sagol School, graduating magna cum laude. During her undergraduate studies, she conducted research in Dr. Eran Stark’s lab, providing her with in vivo experience and a background in spiking network mechanisms underlying cognition. Her work there resulted in co-authoring three papers.

Driven by her ambition to translate research into health solutions, in October 2021 Roni began a direct PhD program at Tel Aviv University under the supervision of Dr. Tali Ilovitsh. She first published a paper demonstrating enhanced permeability of the blood-brain barrier in small vessels following treatment with focused ultrasound and nanobubbles, as opposed to microbubbles. Her current research aims to utilize this method for noninvasive treatments and the diagnosis of glioblastoma.

Outside the lab, Roni is deeply committed to community service and spearheads several educational initiatives. She is the co-founder of the Mental Health Innovators Forum at her university.
