Most of Osip Schartz’s doctorate was devoted to various advanced optical microscopy techniques, enabling imaging with better resolution and sensitivity. The central project of my PhD was experimentally achieving, for the first time, sub-diffraction limited imaging by taking advantage of quantum properties of light.

He has  authored and co-authored 19 published or submitted papers on optical imaging, communication, spectroscopy, physics of nanoparticles, and quantum
electrodynamics.

Awards received during doctorate: Adams Fellowship, Otto Schwarz scholarship (not my relative!), Feinberg Graduate School Dean’s Prize of Excellence,
and Gad Resheff prize.
