Aviezer Silverman is a PhD student in Microbiology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, working under the supervision of Dr. Sahar Melamed. His research focuses on the role of small RNA molecules in the ongoing arms race between bacteriophages and their bacterial hosts. He has presented his work at national and international conferences and has received several awards for his research publications and scientific work.

Driven by a commitment to addressing the global challenge of antibiotic resistance, Silverman aims to design new antibacterial strategies and develop innovative, next-generation therapeutic approaches by leveraging phage and RNA biology.

Beyond his research, Silverman has significant experience in mentorship and teaching, guiding undergraduate and M.Sc. students in microbiology. He grew up in Beit Shemesh and earned a B.Sc. in biomedical sciences at the Hebrew university. Silverman then joined the the Abisch-Frenkel Excellence program in Biomedical Research in the direct Ph.D. program. Prior to his graduate studies, he volunteered for several years with Magen David Adom as a medic, where he developed his passion for healthcare and for medical science research.
