Maya Schlesinger is a Ph.D. student in Computer Science at Tel Aviv University supervised by Prof. Michal Feldman and specializing in algorithmic game theory. Her passion for the field started in middle school when she began taking university-level computer science courses through the “Odyssey” academic program for high school students. After high school, she balanced her academic studies with a role as an algorithms researcher at a fintech company, where she developed algorithms to improve datasets, set loans prices, and forecast portfolio earnings. During this time, she earned her B.Sc. summa cum laude and commenced her M.Sc. research with Prof. Feldman in algorithmic game theory, an area bridging computer science and economics.
Upon beginning her Ph.D., Schlesinger shifted to full-time academic research, focusing on combinatorial contract design. This field investigates how to effectively incentivize agents within environments characterized by incomplete information and complex, dynamic interactions. Schlesinger has presented her work at numerous international conferences. Her published work examines contract design across various intricate settings, including those involving dynamic sequential actions, multiple agents, and fairness constraints.
Beyond her academic pursuits, Schlesinger enjoys playing music, participating in improv theater, and volunteering as a tutor for children of refugees.
