Amir Ingber is an electrical engineer and senior research scientist at Yahoo! His research is primarily focused on information theory, digital communication, signal processing and image processing

Before joining the private sector, Amir was a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University and received a PhD from Tel-Aviv University. His thesis “Coding Methods and Bounds for the Bandwidth Limited Regime” was written under the supervision of Prof. Meir Feder.  The PhD researched one of the fundamental problems in information theory – the channel coding problem with limited bandwidth. Amir made progress towards a better understanding of the inherent limitation of the communication problem and specifically the channel coding problem combined with the"Multi-Level Coding" scheme. This work touches another fundamental problem of performance versus complexity in communication systems. Amir's work suggests a way to better understand this problem, especially for the interesting case of limited bandwidth systems.

Amir completed his MSc in Tel Aviv University, graduating summa cum laude. His thesis “Universal Prediction of Individual Sequences Using Deterministic Finite State Machines” was written under the supervision of Prof. Meir Feder.

Amir has been published in a variety of scientific conference proceedings,  including the proceedings of the Data Compression Conference and IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory.
