Yarden Sheffer was born in 1997 and completed high school in Tel Aviv. He played a leading role in his school's robotics team, which won the 2014 Israeli FIRST Robotics Competition championship.
Yarden completed his undergraduate degree in physics and mathematics at the Technion, graduating summa cum laude as part of the Rothschild-Technion Program for Excellence. During his undergraduate years, he was involved in multiple research projects, ranging from theoretical optical physics to experimental and theoretical research in soft matter physics. Yarden then completed his MSc at the Weizmann Institute, under the supervision of Prof. Ady Stern, and studied the theory of flat-band materials. Following his MSc, he spent two years working as a machine-learning engineer at Imubit, a startup developing neural-network algorithms for control of industrial processes.
Yarden is currently a PhD student at the Weizmann Institute, where he is supervised by Prof. Ady Stern and Prof. Erez Berg. His research focuses on the interplay between quantum entanglement and topology in novel quantum phases of matter.
